Dennis Bramble, one of many Utah scientists marking next week's bicentennial of Charles Darwin's birth, will address long debated evolutionary questions at one of several free public lectures on the legacy of the great scientist. Bramble's hypotheses, which have made national headlines, would not be possible to formulate and investigate without the intellectual framework Darwin provided through his notion of "natural selection" to explain how living organisms change into new species over time.
It is also interesting to note that the University of Utah has the first edition of Darwin's seminal text which will be available on display at the U.'s Marriott Library along with several other books by early evolutionary biologists.
